Restaurant Insurance Owning a restaurant comes with having to deal with many different issues, such as having an appealing menu, getting fresh ingredients from suppliers, and keeping up with health codes. One thing you do not want to have to worry about is what to do in case an accident occurs or disaster strikes, which is why you must have insurance for your restaurant.
Since there are many different aspects to a restaurant, different types of insurance are needed. The standard coverage that should be purchased should include general liability and property insurance. General liability covers any damages that the restaurant may be liable to pay for because of a lawsuit that may occur due to an accident where someone was injured or property is damaged. General liability also covers your restaurant if someone gets sick from your food. Property insurance covers any direct physical loss or damage done to your property due to any covered causes of loss such as fire, theft, etc. Some other coverage that you may want to consider purchasing is liquor liability, worker’s compensation, loss of earnings, and accidental medical. Liquor liability is required in most states for restaurants which hold a liquor license. This protects you in case some has too much to drink at your restaurant and hurts themselves or someone else. Worker’s compensation is also required by most states and protects you if an employee is injured on the job. Loss of earnings will pay you for losses incurred due to postponement of operations from a covered cause of loss. Lastly, accidental medical will reimburse you for medical expenses due to accidental injury.
There are many dangers in a restaurant and the only way to be protected from them is by purchasing restaurant insurance.
